Thanks for Stopping By!

January 7, 2015

Welcome! Thank you for taking the time out to visit my blog. This has been a small dream of mine for a little over a year now. I have finally found the courage to start it. I have so many wonderful ideas and experiences planned over the next year (at least) to share with everyone. I feel like I have a lot to tell that many can benefit from.

For those who don’t know me, as I am assuming that most people who visit this blog at first know me personally, my name is J’Nai. I was born and raised in on of the greatest cities in the world, New Orleans. I have not lived here all my life. After hurricane Katrina, my family and I were forced to move to Kennesaw, Georgia, which is where I finished high school. After graduating from high school, I decided to fulfill my painful longing to return to where I was rooted and attend LSU, which is located in Baton Rouge, LA. It took four and a half long and hard years, but I graduated December 2013. After college, I obtained a degree, but i had this overwhelming feeling of unfulfillment, so I decided to take a year off of preparing to go to dental school, my one true dream, to further define myself and my purpose in this world.

In January 2014, I moved to “the city”, aka New Orleans, to be closer to my 1st choice dental school, but the move turned out to be much more than that. I began working as a bartender (also my job in college). There, surprisingly, I met so many people who challenged me in many ways, both mentally and emotionally. Influenced by the desire to travel instilled through the people I met, I made it a point to become a tourist in my own city, and then, eventually, a tourist in other cities and countries.

I have learned a lot about myself in the past year: I have a love of art and music. I have a passion for service. I love to travel. I was meant to speak French, even if my accent is terrible. My natural hair makes people fear me, hate me, love me, and respect me. I am more talented artistically than I thought. And I have a knack for being an excellent bartender. There is so much I can say that this intro would never end! I have made so many memories and met so many people from different cultures in the past year that I am a changed person. I do not see the world the same as I did a year ago, fresh out of college. I do not regret the decisions I have made. I would like to continue to make leaps in life but I feel that others can benefit from all the ideas I have and things I’ve learned. Thank you for wanting to learn with me! Thank you again for visiting my site!
